16 Bläser und eine 4-köpfige Rhythm-Section spielen sich mit viel Energie, Humor und Enthusiasmus durch ein vielfältiges Big Band Repertoire.
Der Veranstalter kann aus den Schwerpunkten Traditional-, Funk- und Contemporary-Big Band Tunes wählen. Die Sahne liefern kreative Solisten, die Jazz Geschichten oder wilde Stories erzählen.
Zwei Studenten der Uni Bern, die sich zufällig an der Swiss Jazz School und in einem Uni-Hörsaal begegneten, gründeten 1995 die Uni Big Band. Für die musikalische Leitung wurde Wolfgang
Pemberger engagiert. Er leitet die Proben und Gigs und berät beim Literatureinkauf und bei Neubesetzungen.
Die Urformation probt und spielt mittlerweile nicht mehr regelmässig. Sie wirkt aber immer noch in speziellen Projekten mit (wie zB. Touchpoint mit Enrico Pieranunzi, Lindyhop- und Crossover-Projekte, siehe Archiv). 2007 wurde mit Studenten der Uni Bern wieder eine neue Workingband zusammengestellt, die wöchentlich probt und regelmässige auftritt.
Die Uni Big Band wird für private, geschäftliche und Uni-Interne Anlässe gebucht und tritt an öffentlichen Veranstaltungen in verschiedensten Rahmen auf (Montreux Off, FIMU Belfort, l'Oeuf de Jazz Le Mans, Festival Bologna, Castle Jazz Festival, Ocho Rios Jazz Festival). Eine Spezialität ist, dass die grosse Band auf kleinsten Club-Bühnen funktioniert, so zB. im ONO Bern. Big Band Jazz in
Club-Atmosphäre ist ein erstklassiges Vergnügen für Musiker und Zuhörer. |

The host can choose out of the main focus of traditional-, funk- and contemporary-big band tunes. The cherry on the cake is delivered by creative soloists, who narrate jazz or wild stories.
Two students from the University of Bern, who met accidently at the Swiss Jazz School and in a lecture hall in Bern, founded 1995 the “Uni Big Band.” Wolfgang Pemberger was hired for the musical lead. He runs the rehearsals and gigs. Replacements and literature purchase are also advised by Wolfgang Pemberger. The primary formation is not rehearsing and playing regularly anymore. They are still co-operating in some special projects (like e.g. Touchpoint with Enrico Pieranunzi, Lindyhop and crossover-projects, see archive). 2007 a new working band with students was put together. They are rehearsing weekly and performing regularly.
The “Uni Big Band” gets booked for privat and business affairs as well as University internal occasions. Besides that, the Big Band also performs at all kinds of public events (Montreux Off, FIMU Belfort, l'Oeuf de Jazz Le Mans, Festival Bologna, Castle Jazz Festival, Ocho Rios Jazz Festival). A specialty of the band is, that numerous musicians are able to play on the smallest stages like the ONO in Bern. Big Band Jazz in club-atmosphere is a high-class amusement for musicians and especially for the audience. |
